We have already discussed the first two of the ‘four thoughts’, the preciousness of our human birth and impermanence and mortality. There is a wealth of material available that students can consult to educate themselves more as to the concrete practice methods for these thoughts—for example the Dzogchen preliminaries, Tsongkhapa’s Stages of the Path literature, and a host of information available online. Regardless of which route one takes, it is advisable to learn about the concrete methods of practice in relation to the preliminaries.
