This practice of counting our breaths in rounds of seven is one that we can do three times at the initial stage of another meditation practice; or, if we are so inclined, we can practise this counting of breaths in rounds of seven before any meditation session lasting up to an hour. In counting our breaths and observing the calmness of our minds, we abide in this state. “Abide in” means simply to maintain this state of calmness. This practice of counting our breaths in rounds of seven is one that we can do three times at the initial stage of another meditation practice; or, if we are so inclined, we can practise this counting of breaths in rounds of seven before any meditation session lasting up to an hour.
